Community projects are typically committee-driven and involve many stakeholders e.g. school playgrounds, skateboarding/bmx parks or marae outdoor communal space. The landscape design may be influenced by input from other design professionals, Council, neighbours, other local residents (including children), and anyone else who is likely to make use of the space or be affected by its use. The process may include:
- multiple discussions and presentations with interested parties using various communication channels as appropriate to the audience e.g. committee, neighbours, Council, local neighbourhood
- staged design to match resource availability e.g. funding, volunteer labour, equipment availability, materials stockpiling
- designing for safety compliance, accessibility and long-term viability
- planting and hardscape design created to match your space and activities including consideration for integration with the surroundings
- incorporating existing landscape features into the design and working with recycled materials to lower the environmental footprint (where appropriate)
- project management: helping you get your design built and planted
